BLS for Healthcare Providers is the American Heart Association course required by most clinical employers and training programmes. It costs $100 per person, with a discount for groups of six or more, and Pam issues provider cards the same day. She can teach at your facility anywhere in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas.
Who needs BLS rather than Heartsaver?
Nurses, physicians, dentists and dental hygienists, respiratory therapists, paramedics and EMTs, medical assistants, physical and occupational therapists, and students in any of those programmes. If your employer, clinical placement or licensing board says BLS, Heartsaver will not satisfy it. The two courses are not interchangeable, and it is worth checking the exact wording before you book.
What is different about the provider course?
BLS assumes you will be working as part of a team with equipment, so it goes further than lay rescuer training. It covers high quality compressions with real depth and rate targets, bag mask ventilation, two rescuer CPR and the choreography of switching without losing compression time, AED integration, and relief of choking in a clinical context. It also drills the thing that separates a good code from a bad one, which is communication under pressure.
Pam teaches it as someone who has run these scenarios for real rather than as someone who has only taught them. Twenty five years in labor and delivery means neonatal resuscitation is not theoretical to her, and the questions students ask about small bodies get answered properly.
Group rates and on site training
Groups of six or more receive a discount, and Pam will quote it directly once she knows the number and the location. Practices, clinics, dental offices, home health agencies and student cohorts usually find on site delivery easier than sending staff out one at a time. She brings the manikins, the AED trainers and the bag masks, and works around clinic hours where she can.
Renewals
BLS cards run for two years. If your renewal is close, book early, because the classes fill fastest in the weeks around the common clinical intake dates. If you have already let a card lapse, that is not a problem and it is not a different class, it is the same course.
What Pam does not teach
ACLS, PALS and NRP are outside what Tiny Hearts offers. If you need one of those, you will need a different training centre, and Pam would rather tell you that plainly than take the booking. For non clinical staff at the same organisation, Heartsaver is the right course, and mixed groups are common, so ask about running both in one visit.

Is there a group discount?
Yes, for groups of six or more. Pam sets the exact rate based on the size of the group and where it is held, so ask when you enquire.
Do I get my card the same day?
Yes. American Heart Association BLS provider cards are issued the day of the class and are valid for two years.
Do you teach ACLS, PALS or NRP?
No. Pam teaches BLS, Heartsaver and Family and Friends. For ACLS, PALS or NRP you will need a different training centre.
Can you come to our facility?
Yes. Pam regularly teaches on site for clinics, practices, dental offices and student cohorts across Indianapolis and the surrounding areas.
